ATLANTA -- Although, Georgia unemployment rates are above the national average, thousands of seasonal jobs in retailing and more than 600 jobs at a regional call center in Kennesaw are brightening the picture.

California-based Alorica is a national customer call center company with a major regional facility in Kennesaw. Alorica's clients are in many industries, including the telecommunications and floral delivery industries.

Alorica says they are adding more than 1,000 seasonal jobs this year. They said 300 of them are already filled, and they plan to fill the rest with a series of job fairs Saturday and all next week.

"Just the fact that there are job fairs available says a lot for the community trying to help everyone and there are still things popping up. You just have to look for it," says Brooke Merid, an Alorica job candidate.

"The job market is very tight right now and I've been looking for maybe two months and it gets kind of stressful," said Crystal Brown-Helem, another candidate.

The good news about a seasonal job is that it can turn permanent.

"It's a seasonal job but they also give the opportunity to have a permanent job with Verizon Wireless after the seasonal if you do everything you are supposed to do and keep up the good work," said Morgan Curtis, another candidate.

The most important thing is getting that head start.

"I got a shot and I think I got the job," Curtis said.

Alorica's job fair is being held at 2120 Barrett Park Drive in Kennesaw from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
