DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- DeKalb County has recently eliminated the registration fee for curbside recycling for DeKalb County residents.
DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis said, "We think that by removing the cost barrier and increasing education on how and what to recycle, our citizens will embrace it."
According to Burke Brennan, Chief Communications Officer, DeKalb County is working to reduce landfill disposal, increase recycling and divert tonnage from the Seminole Road Landfill. DeKalb County wants to raise recycling from 21 percent to 40 percent by 2016.
Residents can get recycling information on the DeKalb Recycles website, and order a bin, to be delivered by Sanitation Services. Bins are picked up from curbs on Wednesdays.
