ATLANTA -- The nonprofit animal rescue organization FurKids will hold an Open House on Saturday and Sunday at the shelter.
Normally open only by appointment, the shelter is inviting volunteers, adopters and anyone who wants to see the grounds to visit on September 22 and September 23.
According to Jeannine F. Addams, a spokesperson for Furkids, the Open House will include a Bark & Bite Bake Sale that will offer baked goods from several Atlanta bakeries and about 20 volunteer bakers.
Furkids will also put on family activities at the event. A BBQ and vegetarian lunch will be provided, as well as face painting and a moonwalk.
The shelter will be taking donations during the Open House, including animal care needs of paper towels, trash bags and cleaning supplies. To see items needed, take a look at the Furkids Wish List.
Along with the Open House, Fur kids will offer a low adoption rate for pets with special needs. Cats will be $25 to adopt, and dogs will be $50.
