MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Marietta Police Department has announced the newly redesigned MPD Citizen Volunteer Program.
According to Officer David Baldwin, frequent recommendations from MPD Citizen's Police Academy graduates led the department staff to examine their current program, and found that the department has typically enlisted citizen volunteers to perform only basic clerical tasks.
However, the MPD also realized that some citizens can offer more talent, skills and experiences to help out.
Baldwin said that they have enriched the program to recruit interested volunteers and promote the development, coordination and organization of volunteers, as their existing volunteer program was not designed to integrate qualified volunteers with public safety and law enforcement.
Some examples of volunteer assignments are Photography/Videography, Detectives' Assistant, Special Events Coordination, Transportation Management and Cyber System Coordination.
