ATLANTA -- 31-year-old James Raper pleaded no contest Tuesday to a hit-and-run accident involving a woman in a wheelchair.
The accident happened last month near the intersection of Bolton Road NW and Marietta Road NW.
Raper's attorney Esther Panitch, says Raper apologized before the hearing and then pleaded no contest.
Panitch says he accepted responsibility for the accident and was ordered to pay $2,700 for the damages to her wheelchair and a $500 fine. He is also on one year probation.
The impact of the collision threw the woman from her wheelchair onto the street. Police said at first Raper insisted it was a driver just in front of him who hit the woman and her wheelchair.
