FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- A Flowery Branch councilwoman is back home after serving in Afghanistan for six months.
The Times of Gainesville reports Mike Richards picked his wife Tara Richards up early Sunday from Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina.
He says she is "doing well" and "tired."
Over the weekend, her friends and neighbors tied yellow ribbons on the trees in her Fireside Drive neighborhood.
Richards was called to deployment as part of the 628th Civil Engineer Flight at Dobbins Air Reserve in Marietta. She was in the middle of her first four-year term on the Flowery Branch Council at the time.
