ATLANTA -- Drivers throughout the City of Atlanta should be on the lookout for a parking scam that seems to be gaining traction in the City.

Tracye Kamperman was approached by a fake parking attendant outside the AAA Garage on Marietta Street, Downtown. He told her she needed to pay six dollars up front.

She hesitated, but he was persistent. Finally she relented and paid. But when she went to leave the lot, an actual company employee told her their policy was pay as you exit.

In a similar situation, Tracy Kenyon pulled her car into the Parking Company of America lot on Peachtree Street across from The Vortex.

She was greeted by a well dressed man who told her it was $5 to park and gave her a ticket to display in her windshield. When she returned to the car, it was booted.

A booting company employee told Tracy she had been scammed and that the man who took her money had no affiliation with the lot.

Police advise drivers to read the signs carefully and not give anyone money unless you're sure they can prove they are affiliated with the lot.
