ATLANTA -- One boy is dead and two other people are injured after an accident on I-20 westbound near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
According to Georgia State Patrol, 52-year-old David Washington was driving east on I-20 when a mechanical part of his Freightliner tractor trailer came off, went over the divider and struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer travelling westbound.
The driver of the vehicle, Jameka Malone, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, and her arm was amputated from the elbow down. Eight-year-old Cameron Mcilwain from Decatur was killed and a 19-month-old child was treated for minor cuts.
Three other vehicles struck debris from the truck. However, no injuries were reported.
Authorities have not pressed charges and according to Georgia State Patrol, "any charges will be pending the completion of the investigation."
