NEW YORK -- Justin Bieber pulled a fast one on Matt Lauer Friday morning when the TODAY show host asked the Biebs to help him send his first tweet.
Lauer, who just signed up for Twitter, handed Bieber his cell phone and suggested tweeting something like "Hanging with Justin" or announcing the name of the first song ("Boyfriend") Bieber was going to perform live on TODAY.
Instead, Bieber tweeted on behalf of @MLauer, "Hello. Everyone go buy Justin bieber's album #believe coming out June 19th."
Bieber then tweeted his own @justinbieber followers, "everyone follow my man @mlauer." Within 20 minutes, Lauer had over 40,000 followers.
@justinbieber has the second highest following on Twitter with more than 23 million fans. Only @ladygaga has more, with over 25 million followers.
