  • UPDATE: The DeKalb County Sheriff Office Fugitive Squad has arrested Shaniqua Jones, 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week for May 16, 2012. Sgt. Adrion Bell said Jones was arrested in southwest Atlanta as a result of a tip that came directly from her story on 11Alive News.

Jones is the ninth Fugitive of the Week who has been captured.

    Our original story follows:

DECATUR, Ga. -- Shaniqua Jones is 11 Alive's Fugitive of the Week for May 16, 2012. Jones, 22, is wanted by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad for two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Jones has been on the run since April 8, 2012 when DeKalb County Police were called to a home on White Oak Drive in Decatur. They found Jones' step-father and step-sister with multiple stab wounds to the head and body, but none that were life threatening.

"Jones stabbed her step-father and her step-sister after a brief verbal and somewhat physical altercation," said Sgt. Adrion Bell of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Bell said the altercation may have started earlier in the day when Jones and the two victims ran out of gas while driving down Glenwood Road. He said she used a kitchen knife that was not recovered at the scene.

This isn't the first time Jones has resorted to violence according to criminal records. She was arrested two other times in Fulton County. In 2009, she was arrested on two counts of Aggravated Assault. In 2011, she was arrested on two counts of simple battery.

"We have been tracking her since we got the warrant in early April, and thus far we have not been able to track her through the leads that we have received," Sgt. Bell said.

Jones is featured on Rowson's Crime Scene along with previous fugitives of the week. If you know where she is, call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
