SNELLVILLE, Ga. -- Brian Montgomery resigned from his job as the head football coach at Shiloh High School Thursday morning.

Montgomery was reassigned to a job in the Gwinnett County School's central office early this week after the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) notified Gwinnett's central office that Montgomery was under investigation for alleged recruiting violations.

The allegations are centered upon four student athletes who followed Montgomery from his prior coaching position at North Atlanta High School. Transferring to follow a coach is a violation of the GHSA's transfer rule.

Montgomery maintains that the proper paperwork was done, last spring, and the move was approved by the Shiloh High School Athletics Director and the GHSA; and he maintains his innocence of any wrongdoing.

Earlier this week, Montgomery was given notice that his contract would not be renewed by Gwinnett County Schools and he would be reassigned, in the meantime.

Although, Montogomery decided to resign, he hopes to work with young people in the future.
