ATLANTA -- 11Alive News has obtained a list of private companies that MARTA asked to donate money for the agency's Christmas party.
MARTA's board chair said he sees no conflict of interest involved in the agency's request, saying that they picked about 40 companies to ask for funds from, to the tune of $5,000 to $10,000 in order to pay for their planned December 11 event.
The agency said they had asked for the funds this year because of MARTA's precarious financial situation, but there was an insistance that the funds donated would be on a voluntary basis.
The list of companies includes Bank of America, BellSouth, Georgia Power and Kaiser Permanante.
