A police sketch of the Dunwoody Prep shooting suspect.
Dunwoody Police car guards daycare where Rusty Sneiderman was murdered Thursday.
DUNWOODY, GA - By all accounts, 36-year-old Russell J. Sneiderman had always been a go-getter.
Rusty, as he was known, was an accountant with a Harvard MBA.
Known as a good father and husband, he had recently started some businesses of his own after being laid off, ironically, by a daycare chain.
It proved to be ironic because he lost his life in the parking lot of a Dunwoody daycare center Thursday morning.
He was gunned down beside his car just after dropping off his young daughter.
On Friday a police car stood guard over the Dunwoody Prep pre-school as parents and children came and went.
But from what police say, none of those other parents should be too worried for their safety.
Although not available for a TV interview Friday, Dunwoody Police Sgt. Mike Carlson confirmed by phone that they believe Sneiderman's death was not random, but that he was targeted.
The question is why.
Friday evening Dunwoody Police released a composite sketch of the shooter.
Witnesses described him as a white man in his 30's, about 5'10" to 5'11" tall with a beard.
He was spotted driving away from the crime in what may have been a silver Dodge minivan with no tag.
Rusty Sneiderman died only about a mile or so from where he lived.
Friends and family at the home declined to be interviewed.
But several have posted their condolences and puzzlement on various social media sites.
One says, "Nearly 24 hours have passed since Rusty Sneiderman's murder and none of this makes any sense. He was a true gentleman that we'll all miss."
Another says, "Rusty will be missed by all those who knew him. He was a friend who was smart and talented. He was always trying to help others as well."
Sneiderman was actively involved in several charities, especially the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, which seeks to help cure a genetic bone disorder.
While detectives interview friends and family, they're also tracing Sneiderman's other contacts looking for clues to whoever would have wanted him dead.
They're also reviewing security camera videos from several businesses in the crowded shopping center where the crime happened.
