Police investigate a shooting outside of Dunwoody Prep Thursday morning.
DUNWOODY, GA -- A man was shot to death after dropping his 2-year-old son off at preschool Thursday morning.
Police said 36-year-old Russell Sneiderman was getting into his car to leave the parking lot of Dunwoody Prep Day Care at 5493 Chamblee Dunwoody Road at about 9:30 a.m. Just then, a suspect approached him and began firing, hitting him several times.
A doctor and nurses from Dunwoody Pediatric, a medical clinic a few doors down from the day care, rushed to Sneiderman's aid. They performed CPR, but were unable to save him. Sneiderman was pronounced dead on arrival at Atlanta Medical Center.
Dunwoody Police Officer Mike Carlson said they are looking for the driver of a silver Dodge minivan with no tag, which was last seen traveling westbound on Mount Vernon Road.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-10 or 5-foot-11 inches in height and in his 30s with a beard. Some witnesses have told police that the beard may have possibly been fake.
Police say so far, there is nothing to indicate that this was a random shooting.
Carlson added no children or staff from the day care were involved in or witnessed the gunfire.
