ATLANTA -- Downtown Atlanta could become the new home of a 45-story Atlanta Eye, a replica of London's, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.
Bernie Marcus is pushing the $200 million project which could be within sight of his Georgia Aquarium, an attraction credited with keeping Centennial Park as a serious downtown attraction.
Project leaders met with dozens of Atlanta business representatives Tuesday. Atlanta law firm McKenna, Long, & Aldridge will reportedly spearhead the project.
Merlin Entertainment, the operator of London's iconic wheel, was rumored to be scouting downtown real estate.
What remains to be seen is whether the political and financial will exists to back such an ambitiout project and where it will go.
11Alive's Ted Hall interviewed Atlanta Business Chronicle reporter Maria Saporta Thursday.
