TEMPLE, GA -- Students at Temple High School remembered one of their own Tuesday night.

Rashawn Walker was killed Monday when the bus he was riding in hit a ditch and toppled over. Twelve other students were hurt when the bus driver, 59-year-old Kenneth Ross Herringdine of Roopville, lost control on Highway 113 near Abilene Cemetery in Carroll County.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of all individuals involved in this unfortunate accident." Temple High School Principal Karen Suddeth said in a letter to students and parents on Tuesday.

The student body held a candlelight vigil for Walker on the Temple High football field, where the 17-year-old played on the school's team. He was a senior and aspiring graphic designer.

"He was well known and warmed the hearts of others," said a statement from Carroll County Schools. "The passing of such a beloved classmate has pained the hearts of students."

Grief counseling is being offered at Temple High.
