MARIETTA, GA -- It's been nearly a week since 21-year-old Marcelle Elliott vanished.
"With every day that passes, our hope fades," her father David told 11Alive News over the phone. "I just want my daughter home."
David and Yvette Elliott say their daughter, who goes by the nickname Marci, was spending the summer at home with them in Cobb County. She was teaching at Due West Academy in Marietta, where her mom, Yvette, is the assistant director.
Last Thursday, Marci went to Carrollton to get a book from a friend. Police would later find her car at The Loft, a well-known apartment spot for students. Police say Marci lived there about a year ago. They say a witness saw her park her car and walk toward the apartments, but no one knows whether she ever entered the building.
Her mom says Marci called when she got into Carrollton, but that was the last call. Police say there has been no activity from Marci's cell phone and no changes to her bank account since then.
Friends and co-workers say it's not like Marci to simply pick up and shirk responsibilities.
For years Marci has filled in as a teacher at Due West Academy during her school breaks. Marci's boss, Sara Gruba, says Marci is one of the best employees she has.
"This is so totally out of character for her," said Due Gruba "She is very responsible and stays in very close contact with her family."
Anyone with information about Marci Elliott's disappearance is asked to call Carrollton Police at 770-834-4451.
