VILLA RICA, Ga. -- Officials said both fire and water contributed to a 15 vehicle pile-up on I-20 around 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Investigators with the Georgia State Patrol said a car fire just east of the Liberty Road on I-20 westbound slowed traffic. The braking vehicles were challenged by the slick roadway which lead to several rear-end accidents.
Official said there were only minor injuries despite the number of vehicles involved.
The road was closed for about two hours while crews worked to clear the road.
Heavy rains moved through the area Sunday afternoon and evening causing the slick roadway.
