LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Gwinnett County police arrested former officer Gary Miles Jr., 33, Thursday evening, after investigators said Miles tased a Waffle House employee.

Police said the incident happened February 16 at a Loganville Waffle House. The employee told investigators that Miles -- who was on duty at the time -- came into the restaurant, and that Miles tased the employee without cause.

A six-year veteran of the department, Miles resigned his position with police force earlier this week.

Miles has been charged with one count of battery and one count of violation of oath of office by a public officer. After surrendering voluntarily to police, Miles was taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
