The Home Depot Clearance Center in Austell is closing it's doors and liquidating its stock of appliances and home improvement supplies that were already discounted.

The store is full of overstock and discontinued items from Home Depot and its manufacturers. "About half the store is flooring and there are also appliances, lighting products, window treatments and faucets,"said Manger Bryan Lange.

Lange said the stock is typically discounted 20 percent from suggested retail prices but the sale is now being handled by a professional liquidation company. He said merchandise is currently 10 to 30 percent off retail prices and will go lower as the sale progresses.

On the first day of the sale Thursday bargain hunters showed up in droves with  rented trucks to cart off refrigerators, ranges, rugs and other home improvement items. The store does not offer home delivery.

When shopping a liquidation sale you will get the best deal by researching product reviews and prices before you go. Take measurements in your home for window treatments and rugs. Buy extra flooring such as hardwood and tiles so you don't run out.

The Home Depot Clearance Center is located at 3999 Austell Road, Austell, GA 30106.  (770)941-9600.  Home Depot has not decided exactly when the store will close. Officials say it depends on how fast they sell the merchandise.
