My Place Laptop Workstation
They call them laptop computers but that doesn't mean we want them on our laps. The My Place Portable Laptop Desk Table Workstation claims it can give you total comfort anywhere. We have an on-the-go executive review it before you buy it.
As U.S. Director for International Mascot, Jonathan Schloss stays in touch with the office all the time. That means he's always on his laptop. "We virtually don't use a desktop anymore," he said. "The kids are the only ones using a desktop." He says he's comfortable only about half the time depending on where he is sitting.
So Jonathan was hopeful the My Place Laptop might be a great solution. There's no assembly, just add three AAA batteries to power the LED light. "I'm liking this. It's one of those so far I don't need to read any instructions," he said. "That's a good thing." The fold out legs have two different heights. The desktop is a generous 21 by 12 inches and can be adjusted to eight different angles. There is also a small amount of storage under the desktop.
Jonathan tried to get settled on the couch but couldn't find a comforable position. "Well it's high," he said. Then he experimented with and without the legs, on the coffee table and in a recliner. "Now it doesn't stay stable and it's kind of tilting toward me," he said. Finally Jonathan moved to the floor. "I do like it being higher on the floor," he said, "this is kind of neat."
Jonathan said for someone who works on the floor or in bed, this desk might help. "For me personally, I don't think it's something I would use," he said. "I do think though for perhaps a student."
The My Place Laptop retails for $60 but we've seen it sell for half that price. Does Jonathan think it's worth the money? "I'll give it one thumb up and one thumb down."
