  • The Eggstrafresh is an egg-shaped product that claims it can keep food fresh longer saving you money by not have throw away spoiled food.  We review the claims before you buy it.

Johnna hates to see food spoil before her family eats it. She's even resorted to dating her leftovers.  So she was interested in trying out the Eggstrafresh.  The small plastic shell and contains a clear liquid that is supposed to keep fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, fish and breads fresh weeks longer.  Selling for $20 plus shipping it claims to extend the shelf life of most fresh foods three to five times by reducing oxidation and moisture. Just set it in your refrigerator or pantry.  It's supposed to be good for a year.

Johnna decided to put the claims to the test with some simple experiments.   "When testing the Extrafresh I thought it would be a good idea to get two of the same type mushrooms", she said, "and put one package in my neighbors refrigerator and keep one in my refrigerator next to the Eggstrafresh."  But several days later there was no difference between the two packages.

The Eggstrafresh also claim to control odors.  So Johnna marinated some ribs with a garlic rub overnight in her refrigerator.  "It definitely did not control the odor of that,"  she said.  The Eggstrafresh didn't help a bag of shredded lettuce either.  It turned brown even though it was within the expiration date.

Johnna was disappointed.  "The unscientific experiments that I conducted showed me it didn't keep fruits and vegetable any more fresh than the regular refrigerator would and the Eggstraresh didn't control the odors from my ribs marinating," she said.  "So I have to give it a thumbs down."

The Eggstrafresh comes with a 30 day money back guarantee.
