Pet food recalled, may contain salmonella

ATLANTA -- Breeder's Choice Pet Foods is recalling one of its dog foods due to a possible salmonella contamination.

The recall includes AvoDerm Natural Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Adult Dog Formula with "Best Before" dates of Aug. 28, 2013; Aug. 29, 2013; and Aug. 30, 2013.

The dog food was distributed to stores in California, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, Virginia and Washington.

Pet owners who purchased the food should throw it away immediately.

Symptoms of salmonella poisoning in dogs include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy and fever.
