HALL COUNTY, Ga. -- The Hall County Animal Shelter recently took 31 dogs to New York for an adoption event, where all found new homes.

The adoption event was held in White Planes, an area where there is a shortage in adoptable pets. This trip made the fifth time that the Hall County Animlal Shelter has gone to New York, said Katie Crumley, a spokeswoman for Hall County. Usually, she said, they try to go three or four times a year.

In New York, there were some 360 pets that were adopted at the weekend event, which was hosted by the Best Friends Animal Society.

From Hall County, the trek takes about 19 hours. On board were local Veterinarian Dr. Meghan Seabolt, her husband Justin, and employees Anna Crawford and Justine Daniel. The dogs rode in a climate-controlled trailer that was donated to the shelter.

Two weeks before trip time, all 31 dogs were quarantined for two weeks to make sure they were healthy and ready for new homes. Each dog had a medical exam, were vaccinated and tested for disease.
