Fred Kalil is our sports reporter for 11Alive News. He joined WXIA-TV in July of 1992 from WISH-TV where he served as Sports Anchor.

Fred's broadcasting career began at WLWT-TV in Cincinnati where he served as weekend sports anchor. He then joined KTSP-TV in Phoenix, AZ and served as sports anchor/reporter for six years before joining WISH-TV. In 2001, Fred won the Furman Bisher Award from the Atlanta Sports Council for Sports Reporting. ESPN's Lee Corso was his coach at Indiana.

Fred grew up in Mishawaka, IN and graduated from Indiana University where he was a walk-on football player. He is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and has received ten Emmy Awards as well as two GABBY awards, one in 1994 and one in 1998, for sports reporting. He also is the recipient of the prestigious national Iris Award in 1989. Fred and his wife, Carla, have two children, daughter Alexandria and son Devin.
