RUTLEDGE, Ga. -- This weekend's annual Sunflower Festival in Rutledge turned into a fundraiser for Aimee Copeland, the University of West Georgia grad student recovering from flesh eating bacteria.

Festival attendees could buy a sunflower for $1 and add it to a long chain along the fence of a massive farm. Those who did said they felt they were banding together with Aimee in spirit and support.

Also in attendence was recording artist and singer-song writer Corey Durkin. He wrote a song just for Aimee and even visited her in the hospital in Augusta. He performed a little bit of the song just for 11Alive in the picturesque sunflower field.

All proceeds raised will go directly to Aimee Copeland.
