ATLANTA, Ga. -- On the heels of the carbon monoxide leak that forced displacement of an Atlanta-area elementary school on Monday morning, the Home Depot and Kidde have decided to take a stand.

Kidde, a top manufacturer of carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms and The Home Depot have partnered with the 11Alive Help Desk to provide carbon monoxide detectors for people who need them.

Both companies are gearing up to donate 1,000 carbon monoxide detectors for installation at metro area schools.

The carbon monoxide detectors will be available at a Home Depot store for schools that need them starting in early January.

The store locations will be posted on the 11Alive Help Desk online.
