Rain moves in: This is the first wave of moisture that will move our way. The rain will be more widespread early, then begin to taper off later in the afternoon into the evening. Santa and Rudolph will have to navigate through clouds here, but we will be in a break in the rain on Christmas Eve night.

Potential severe storms: Another wave of moisture moves in Christmas Day. The timing for strong to severe thunderstorms will be Christmas night into Wednesday morning. The Storm Prediciton Center has now included Atlanta in the "slight" risk for severe thunderstorms Christmas night. All of the ingredients are coming together to have us on alert for strong winds, lightning and potential hail. We will continue to fine tune this forecast to pinpoint what type of effects we could feel from it.

Flurries north? Cold air will start rushing in Wednesday as the moisture moves out. We may have some brief mixing with that cold air and moisture in the north Georgia mountains that could sustain some snow flurries. It's still too early to predict any accumulations. The threat for flurries has decreased a bit since yesterday's model runs. We will keep fine tuning this forecast issue as well.
