ATLANTA (AP) - Former Georgia Rep. Bob Barr says he's planning to run again for Congress.

Barr made the announcement Thursday at a large outdoor sporting goods and firearms store in Smyrna, just outside of Atlanta.

A former federal prosecutor, Barr ran as the Libertarian candidate for president in 2008. His platform was arguing both parties were addicted to spending. Earlier, he served four terms as a Republican in Congress.

Barr was the first lawmaker to call for President Bill Clinton's resignation over the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and was one of the House prosecutors who pressed the impeachment case in the Senate.

Barr is seeking the Republican nomination for the 11th Congressional District. His announcement comes one day after Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey of Marietta announced he'll be running for Senate.
