WINDER, Ga. -- Little Tripp Halstead is said to be in good condition after enduring approximately five hours of brain surgery Monday.

The 2 year old has been in the hospital since October, when a tree branch fell on him at his Winder daycare, fracturing his skull.

Doctors replaced a part of his skull they initiallyl removed to aleviate swelling.  They also removed a feeding tube from his nose and put a gastrostomy tube in his stomach.

"We just got word from the neuro team...and everything went great," Tripp's father Bill Halstead posted on their family's Facebook page Monday afternoon. "Thank you all so much for your extra prayers today."

Tripp's mom Stacy said for the first time her young son looked more like himself.

"His head is bandaged and back to it's normal size and there are no tubes now so we can see his sweet little face," said Stacy Halstead.

She was quick to add that swelling will likely return in the next few days as will increased "storming".  That's when Tripp becomes aggitated and tenses up.  His physical therapy team helps with that and he's expected to continue his sessions as often as possible.
