TUCKER, Ga. -- A suspected pill mill that had been operating right under the noses of DeKalb County Police was raided again Tuesday, for the second time in two weeks. This time DEA agents left with a doctor in cuffs.

Dr. Michael Assevero, an OB-GYN , is charged with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone.

"Do you have anything to say?" he was asked as he was led out of Southern Health Management in Tucker on Northlake Parkway. Assevero didn't respond.

On June 14, DEA agents raided this same pain clinic, which is right next to the DeKalb County Police headquarters. Several people, including some patients, were taken into custody.

The owner of the clinic, Jeffrey Gonzalez was charged with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone along with a clinic worker Loree Dawn Nichols. Both are out on bond of $50,000 and $35,000 respectively.

"I really say that a pain clinic in this day and time really reminds me of crack house of the 80s," said DEA agent Chuvalo Truesdell.

Outside it had the typical signs of a pill mill operation with people coming from out of state to get powerful pain killers.

However, inside the offices of Southern Health Management, it looked nothing like a crack house. There were flat screen TV's in the waiting room, shining hardwood floors and new paint.

When asked what was going on and why he was being investigated for operating a pill mill, owner Jeffrey Gonzalez said,"Yeah, really, but that can't be further from the truth."

The case has now been handed over to the DeKalb County District Attorney for prosecution in state court.
