CNN partners at HLN confirmed on Tuesday that the pair will produce and star in a film based on a 1997 Vanity Fair article called "The Ballad of Richard Jewell."

Jewell was the man who discovered a backpack filled with pipe bombs at Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He was originally hailed as a hero and then quickly dubbed the FBI's prime "person of interest."

He filed a series of libel lawsuits against the media after being formally cleared of all wrongdoing later that year. Jewell will be played in the film by Hill, while DiCaprio will play a lawyer whom Jewell knew casually.
