ATHENS, Ga. -- Al Roker is coming to Georgia.

The "Today" show weatherman and host is set to give the Holmes-Hunter lecture at the University of Georgia on Feb. 8.

The annual lecture honors Charlayne Hunter-Gault and the late Hamilton Holmes, who became the first black students to enroll at UGA in 1961. The lecture began in 1985 and focuses on race relations, black history and education.

Roker has been a fixture on NBC's "Today" since 1996 and also hosts annual specials for NBC, including the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Christmas Tree Lighting at the Rockefeller Center and the Rose Bowl Parade.

His wife, Deborah Roberts, is an ABC News 20/20 correspondent and a 1982 graduate of UGA's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She delivered the Holmes-Hunter Lecture in 2006.
