According to a release from the county, Jackson is a retired educator who "served more than 30 years in the Clayton County Public School System."
Jackson retired from the county in 2009 and held numerous positions, from teacher to assistant superintendent, during her tenure with the county.
"I am very excited to once again have an opportunity to serve the students and families of Clayton County in an official capacity," Ms. Jackson said. "This community has been a huge part of who I am for virtually all of my adult life, I am honored."
She will be working with the current superintendent until his departure later this month.
