Forest Park Police said the armed men made their way into the home through an unlocked door as the boy was playing video games on the couch.

One of the young men held the family while the other grabbed items throughout the home, according to police.

"One of them had a pair of scissors at my wife's back," said homeowner Charles Campbell.

He said the pair took all of their grandson's presents, which they had saved for months to buy.

"The family hear a phone call by suspects asking somebody to pull up in the driveway," said Lt. Wesley Elliott. "They heard the car pull up, the car door shut, then suspects were gone."

Lt. Elliott said the thieves took about $800 worth of gifts, electronics and household items, including a comforter.

He said Christmas tree lights could be seen shining through the front window of the family's home.

"The family believes the suspects saw the presents and acted on a whim," Lt. Elliott said.

No one was hurt, but the boy's grandparents said he was very emotional about what happened.

Police have only a vague description of the suspects and no details about their getaway car.
