IRWINTON, Ga. (AP) -- A middle Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in a 2010 murder case.
A Wilkinson County Superior Court judge sentenced Zachary Allen Beck Thursday in the shooting death of 54-year-old Ronnie Rozier.
Authorities say Beck - who was addicted to painkillers - sometimes borrowed money from Rozier and shot the man five times when he refused to loan him $60 the night he was killed. Police say he stole $300 from the man's wallet and was arrested the next day in Savannah.
Officials say aside from the life sentence on the malice murder charge, Beck is also sentenced to 20 years for armed robbery.
