MIAMI (NBC) -- Miami-Dade Police have named a pair of suspects they say nearly killed a man when they set him on fire Christmas night.
Willie Summersett, 29, and Alex Cineas, 21, are being sought in the fiery attack on 44-year-old Darrel Brackett, Miami-Dade Police said Tuesday. Two other unknown suspects are also being sought.
Police say Brackett was riding in his van with his girlfriend when he ran out of gas in the area of Northwest 49th Street and Northwest 23rd Avenue in Brownsville.
Brackett walked to the U Gas at Northwest 47th Street and Northwest 27th Avenue and was walking back to the van when he was attacked.
Police say witnesses saw Brackett running around screaming and on fire in the middle of the street. He was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center with third-degree burns and remains in extremely critical condition, police said.
Summersett, of Miami, has an active arrest warrant for first-degree murder, police said. Cineas and the other suspects were captured on surveillance video and may have information or be involved in the attack, police said.
Brackett's family is expected to hold a news conference later Thursday to discuss the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
