A viewer who saw local news coverage of the theft called Cobb County Police after spotting the trailer in the parking lot of the Sun Suites extended stay hotel on Barrett Lakes Boulevard in Kennesaw, according to Woodstock Police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan.
Investigators tracked down the owners of the truck that was pulling the trailer. At around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, they arrested 44-year-old Carl James Bourque of Marietta and 31-year-old Bobbie Jean Colston of Woodstock.
Both suspects face felony theft charges and are being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Duncan said investigators are now looking for a third suspect, but are not releasing that person's name.
The trailer has since been returned to the HOPE Center. There were five cribs inside it when it was stolen; two have been recovered, according to Duncan.
HOPE Center communication director Lori Griffin released a statement about the trailer's recovery Friday afternoon:
The HOPE Center would like to thank the Woodstock Police Department for its investigation into the theft of the trailer and cribs late Tuesday night.
Since the theft was reported Wednesday morning, response and support from the community has been overwhelming. Businesses and individuals contacted The HOPE Center offering everything from cribs, mattresses, a trailer and monetary donations. The staff of The HOPE Center and Baby & More Store feels they have experienced a real life example of Genesis 50:20, in "What man meant for evil, God meant for good." We welcome your continued support.
