DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A man accused of assaulting a mom during a diaper change and several similar crimes at local malls will face stronger charges after two witnesses came forward Monday.

Kennedy Perez Miranda of Lafayette, Ind. is accused of grabbing the mom and thrusting his hips against her while she changed her baby's diaper in a Perimeter Mall restroom on June 19. Terri Clark with the DeKalb County Solicitor-General's Office said the second woman intervened and helped chase Miranda away.

Clark said the women, who wish to remain anonymous, reported the incident to mall security and the whole thing was captured on surveillance video, but Miranda would only face minor charges if the women didn't provide details to police. Clark said they came forward after one of their friends saw their story on TV and recognized them.

"We are very thankful for these brave women who first helped apprehend this alleged predator, and now their testimony could help keep him behind bars longer," Solicitor-General Sherry Boston said in a statement. "These women truly are heroes."

Miranda is accused of four other crimes within two days of the diaper-changing incident. They include trying to kidnap a woman at a Barnes and Noble at the Forum on Peachtree Parkway and asking young women at a nearby accessories store, Festivity, to have sex with him. Miranda is also accused of exposing himself to a babysitter and young children in Norcross and trying to force a 16-year-old girl into a dressing room at the American Eagle store at Perimeter Mall.
