DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Two DeKalb County Police officers shot and killed a man after he reportedly charged at them with a knife Sunday morning.

The officers were working on Glenwood Road near Austin Drive at around 8:30 a.m. when they were alerted to a man armed with a knife at a nearby gas station, according to DeKalb County Police spokeswoman Mekka Parish.

When the officers arrived at the gas station, the suspect ignored their commands to stop and charged at them, forcing the officers to shoot him, Parish said.

The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Parish said the two officers were placed on routine administrative leave while police investigate the shooting.
