ATLANTA -- Marquis Lester is 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week for April 18, 2012. Lester, 38, is wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Fulton County Sheriff Office for Failure to Appear in court on charges of Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery.
On February 1, 2010 Lester got into an argument with a woman at the Driftwood Sports Bar and Grill on Moreland Avenue. The argument turned into a physical assault, according to Deputy U.S. Marshal Eric Heinze.
"He grabbed a pool stick and savagely beat the victim about the face and head, rendering her unconscious on the floor," Heinze said. The woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and had surgery to reconstruct her eye socket.
Lester was arrested four months after the incident and released on $20,500 bond. "Ever since that bond was established, Mr. Lester has been on hiatus and has been avoiding law enforcement," Heinze said.
Heinze said Lester uses at least eight different aliases: Eric Dodson, Marquise Dodson, Eric Lester, Marquis Brewer, Marquis Forrest, Marquis Pere, Marquis Taylor, and Marquis Pruitt.
"Mr. Lester has a lengthy criminal history that includes assaults on individuals, on law enforcement and numerous narcotics violations," Heinze said.
