  • DECATUR, Ga. -- James Jenkins is 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week for January 18, 2012.

He's wanted by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. The 36-year-old Decatur man has an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Jenkins is six-feet-two-inches tall and weighs between 240 and 300 pounds.

On December 16, 1999 Jenkins lured a 15 year old girl to Mark Trail Park in Decatur, where he sexually assaulted her in his car.

"Mr. Jenkins exited the vehicle, opened the passenger door and sexually assaulted her," said Deputy U.S. Marshal Eric Heinze.

Jenkins was convicted of statutory rape and sentenced to 5 years probation. Heinze said Jenkins has committed numerous violations since 2000, including weapons-related offenses.

Because of the statutory rape conviction, Jenkins went on the Georgia Sex Offender Registry and every year had to verify his address with DeKalb County's Sheriff. He did that until July 2008, when he moved out of his Decatur home. He's been wanted ever since.

Jenkins is listed as absconded on the state's sex offender registry. The Marshals said he is originally from Louisiana and has numerous aliases, including Dia White, Trevon Johnson, Robert Thomas, Eric Davis, Tre Jenkins, Herbert Youngblood, James Lain, Michael Williams and Gregory Fuller.

"It's been reported that he does travel back and forth between Louisiana and Atlanta where he has two ex-girlfriends and has three kids here," Heinze said.

Jenkins was arrested in Marietta in 2009 for battery and obstruction of an officer after a domestic dispute with one of his girlfriends. Jenkins used the alias Gregory Fuller and was released before jail officials found out his true identity. He was also arrested for simple battery in Rockdale County in 2011.
