Back to school shoppers may want to wait until the weekend of August 10th to make big purchases. That is the weekend of the Georgia Sales Tax Holiday, when consumers can buy school supplies and hundreds of other products without paying sales tax.  The sales tax is eight percent in the city of Atlanta and slightly less in other municipalities.

has announced a new local division called Shoppe. It features all locally made products such as clothing, arts, and jewelry. Scoutmob  is a local company that offers half off discounts at various businesses for a limited time.  Unlike other daily deal sites that offer vouchers, Scoutmob doesn't require customers to pay for items or services until they actually purchase them.   In Scoutmob Shoppe most sales are final.

Those willing to donate blood at the Atlanta History Center this Wednesday can get free admission for themselves and one friend. The blood drive is Wednesday from 2pm to 7pm. Donors can give blood or platelets. Admission is normally $14.50 for adults. Parking is free.

Elderly low income residents can get free fans from Scana Energy and the City of Atlanta.
That program is now in it's 11th year. To get a free fan,  those over 65 who have low incomes can call 404-330-6023.
